Kickstart your career as a Residential Carpenter

Are you a problem-solver with a passion for building? We are looking for people who have a knack for building and construction and loves working with their hands. This apprenticeship is a full-time opportunity where you will learn all the skills and knowledge of carpentry, all whilst completing TAFE to learn theory of the industry to soon become a qualified tradesperson. 

These Carpentry Apprenticeships are based in the Wollongong region at a local businesses that specialise in a mix of residential and commercial carpentry. Our companies are looking for a young enthusiastic individuals that are eager to commit to the apprenticeship and business so they can teach them all their is to know about the trade.

Ideal candidates will be those that have a Certifcate II in Construction Pathways

ABOUT THE ROLE

Read and Interpret Floor Plans: Bring blueprints to life by understanding and following detailed plans.

Operate Hand Tools & Machinery: From hammers to saws to drills, use the right tools for the job safely and efficiently. As you become more competent you will be able to operate more interesting machinery. 

Assist with Measuring & Cutting Materials: Help ensure precise measurements and cuts for seamless construction.

Assemble Structures: Join materials to construct walls, floors, and other essential components of residential buildings and bring designs to life

SKILLS REQUIRED

Problem Solving: Tackle on-the-spot challenges and think critically to execute projects smoothly.

Communication: Work closely with teammates and clients to ensure flawless project execution.

Attention to Detail: Precision is vital as every measurement, cut, and assembly impacts the final result.

Basic Math Understanding: Measure materials accurately, calculate dimensions, and ensure all work is aligned.

Dexterity & Stamina: Handle tools and materials with skill and strength, staying focused throughout the day.

Wood Work: Have some general experience from wood work from your school technology classes. Have that basic understanding of tools and there operations.

APPRENTICESHIP INFORMATION

During the duration of the apprenticeship (48-months) you will be working full-time (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday learning all the skills of the trade by gaining hands-on experience on the job working alongside qualified tradespeople. 

You and will attend TAFE one day per week for three years, where you will learn theory and practical areas within the trade to gain a Certificate III in Carpentry and be a qualified tradesperson at the completion of your apprenticeship. 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen
  • Drivers Licence (Provisional Licence - minimum requirement) 
  • Have your own reliable vehicle 
  • Have experience within school wood work or construction at home (heavily preferred)
  • Not have any previous qualifications exceeding a Certificate III in Carpentry 
  • Ideal candidates will be those that have a Certifcate II in Construction Pathways

Qualifications that exceed a Certificate III in Carpentry will not be suitable.
