Hume City Council is seeking enthusiastic, inspiring and customer focused Instructors to work in centres within the municipality. As a Group Fitness Instructor you will lead participants through engaging, safe and stimulating group fitness classes while maintaining the guidelines of the specific class type. Your ability to coach, engage and motivate participants will be highly valuable.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Always demonstrate enthusiasm and enjoyment at having the pleasure of instructing each class.
  • Welcome participants prior to and/or at the commencement of each class by name if possible and always with a smile, indicating you hope they will enjoy the class.
  • Ensure all equipment required and used is left in the same condition in which it was presented to you. Where applicable, ensure equipment is returned and placed neatly to where it is stored.
  • Prior to class ensure any injuries and special conditions (ie. Pregnancy) are accounted for by asking participants
  • During the class, keep your participants in constant view by ensuring all activity is undertaken in front of you where practicable.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Appropriate Qualification Certificates- Certificate III Fitness, G.E.L, Pilates Certifications
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Employee Working with Children’s Check
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of varying types and levels of group fitness classes is preferred. A practical demonstration of instruction skills will be required and evaluated.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate with a broad range of patrons from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
