The Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics brings together Griffith’s formidable strengths in biomedical research. By combining the outstanding discovery and translational research, infrastructure, and training expertise of the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery, the Institute for Glycomics and biomedical teams from within the Menzies Health Institute Queensland we will deliver real and immediate impacts locally and globally, transforming the lives of people around the world, especially those in disadvantaged communities.
The Research Fellow will work within the Parasite Biology Research Group led by Associate Professor Tina Skinner-Adams and will be responsible for assessing the biological activity of new antiparasitic compounds and combinations. This will include performing state-of the art mode of action and pre-clinical studies with lead drug candidates. They will also mentor and supervisor more junior staff and students.
As a Research Fellow you will hold a PhD and have at least 3 years post-doctoral experience. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Conduct laboratory work and research that contributes to the objectives of the Parasite Biology Research Group within the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics.
- Maintain a good publication record in high impact, international, esteemed peer-reviewed journals
- Seek competitive funding for research.
- Manage the preparation and formulation of publications, presentations and research reports arising from research.
- Assist in the mentoring and supervision of higher degree research candidates.
- Supervise Research Assistants and technical staff.
- Contribute to teaching activities.
This is a fixed term (two year), full time position that will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.
Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow Grade 2 range $, - $, per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $, - $, per annum.

You will also have:
- A PhD Degree with at least three years post-doctoral experience.
- Expertise in a broad range of lab techniques, data analysis, and report drafting.
- A strong scientific understanding of parasite biology and extensive tissue culture experience
- Molecular biology expertise.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability skills.
- A strong attention to detail and high-level organisation skills.
- Proficient time management skills, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
