Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.  In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

As our Mechanical Coordinator: Outbye, you will be responsible for the coordination of all maintenance activities in the coal clearance conveyor system, mine dewatering, and other underground infrastructure. Your zero harm mindset and personal commitment in initiating, delivering and embedding safety improvements is paramount for the role. You will be able to display through your extensive supervisory experience your ability to lead your team to logically problem solve, and develop and balance short and long term strategies and solutions.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to; 

  • Develop a high performance culture within the crews through strong leadership including appropriate communication, delegation, coaching and managing performance.
  • Develop and implement maintenance execution plans in the relevant CMMS and scheduling software packages to deliver effective maintenance in accordance with maintenance strategy requirements.
  • Implement maintenance improvement initiatives to optimise maintenance execution, maintenance strategies machine performance.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported, investigated and mitigated promptly and are conducted at a high standard
  • Collect and review machinery performance data and evaluate KPIs to develop performance improvement and corrective action plans
  • Report deficiencies and implement plans to address deficiencies
  • Conduct continual safety audits to check that all safety requirements are being met
  • Demonstrate compliance to legislation by immediately rectifying all issues found during inspections or making safe and arranging for rectification as soon as possible
  • Identify specific risks within working area and adhere to plans to avoid these risks

Qualifications

  • Relevant Trade Qualification or a Diploma or Degree in Engineering
  • Current RIIIS301 – Apply Risk Management Processes (S1)
  • Current RIIOHS301 – Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (S2)
  • Current RIICOM301 – Communicate Information (S3)
  • Current RIIRIS402 – Carry out Risk Management Process (G2)
