The Venue

Hidden in the basement of Burns Philip & Co building on Bridge Street and headed up by Executive Chef Mike Eggert (Totti’s) Good Luck takes inspiration from Tokyo, think Totti’sbut add soy, dashi, vinegar with fresh herbs, citrus and chilli.

The venue has been designed to feel like you’ve walked into a time capsule and stepped out into the rebellious and avant-garde 1970’s Tokyo underground scene. The main dining room is framed by three large fish tanks with live seafood, two wine rooms, private and semi-private dining rooms, and a bar.

The Role

In this role, you’ll be given the opportunity to use your creativity, introduce new and unique offerings to the wine list and take charge of the wine program for one of Merivale’s newest and most treasured venues.

Working closely and mentored by Master Sommelier Franck Moreau MS and work alongside Head of Wine, Dorianne Neimard.

You will inspire, lead, and mentor a team of over 4 high-performing Sommeliers.

Collaborate with the Restaurant Management team delivering exceptional guest service we well as driving revenue and cost results.

This is a critical role with Merivale’s sommelier group, you’ll set the standard for world-class service and share your wine knowledge with esteemed guests to ensure their experience at Good Luck is one they’ll never forget. 

To be successful in the role, you will have:

• previous Head Sommelier experience within a similar high-end venue.
• be an inspirational leader with a proven track record of developing and mentoring the other Sommeliers within your team.
• WSET levl 3 or higher with a thirst for knowledge, continuous innovation and growth.
• a passion for providing the customer with an outstanding experience.
