A bit about the role
The AOD & Mental Health Worker position forms part of the multidisciplinary team at the Living Room Primary Health service. As part of the Substance Misuse Team, our AOD & Mental Health Worker work with people experiencing multiple and complex needs to provide strengths-based and therapeutic interventions designed to reduce the frequency and severity of mental health crisis and the harms of high-risk AOD use amongst Melbourne’s rough sleeping population accessing The Living Room Primary Health Services.
Working within a social model of health, the position will provide crisis interventions, undertakes structure and semi-structured counselling sessions and conduct supported referrals across a range of domains. This position provides secondary consults for clinical and non-clinical staff at The Living Room to develop coordinate care plans for people presenting with a range of complex mental health and harmful AOD use.
NOTE: The Living Room Primary Health Service provides responses to adults age 18+
This position is a 9 month contract ending 30th June 2025.
Key Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience (2+ years) AOD and/or MH sector and treatment provision working with clients with multiple and complex needs.
- Demonstrated experience working in a community-based setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of homelessness, housing, and health sectors (including mental health and AOD)
