Program Officer

Purpose

The Program Officer supports the development and implementation of initiatives and projects, and drives acceptance into the WorkSafe business and across a number of stakeholder groups. This role will play a key role in programs relating to Occupational Disease and Illnesses as well as working closely with the inspectorate to support the implementation of other strategic programs of work. 

Program Officers in the Program division form part of a flexible resource pool that work under the direction of a Program Manager. Typically they work in multi-disciplinary project teams to develop, implement, manage and evaluate projects that are designed to address complex problems to assist the Health and Safety Business Unit to deliver the Health and Safety Strategy.

Key accountabilities

  • You will be collaborating with the members of the team assigned to projects in the scoping, design and development of projects
  • You will seek input of stakeholders at key developmental and implementation stages of projects. Develop project objectives in collaboration with stakeholders to build shared ownership. This may involve acting as facilitator at meetings or workshops
  • You will possess technical expertise and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, preferably with experience in the area of Occupational Disease and Illnesses
  • You will also work with relevant internal stakeholders to bring together expertise and knowledge that can promote knowledge sharing and problem solving in relation to things such as hazards, risks, and the effectiveness of activities previously conducted
  • Finally, you are accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of the business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures

About you

Your communication and organisational skills are exemplary - You have a passion for Victorian's returning home safely. You are a team oriented person who enjoys making an impact on your team and stakeholder.

  • You have a tertiary qualification or experience in a related discipline (e.g. health promotion, OHS, behavioural science or project management)
  • You have advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook
  • You also have experience in the preparation of project plans, agendas, minutes, reports, briefs, meeting documentation and presentations
  • You have a demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a diverse stakeholder group including senior management, employer groups, unions, external and internal stakeholders
  • And finally you have a strong ability to undertake effective research and analyse data material
