Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily production process, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are met. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Production Oversight: Coordinate and manage production operations, ensuring schedules are followed and production targets are achieved.
  2. Staff Management: Supervise, train, and mentor production operators, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles.
  3. Quality Control: Monitor production processes to ensure products meet quality standards, reporting any issues to the Quality Assurance team.
  4. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, work with OHS to implement safety initiatives, and manage incident reporting and risk mitigation.
  5. Schedule & Rostering: Coordinate staff rosters, manage breaks, and ensure appropriate coverage to maintain continuous production flow.
  6. Equipment & Maintenance: Ensure production equipment is maintained according to schedule and kept in good working condition to prevent breakdowns.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with departments like Logistics, Planning, and HR to ensure smooth operations and resolve any production-related issues.
  8. Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and on time, including compliance records, performance reports, and safety reports.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the Production Supervisor role will be an experienced and proactive leader with a strong background in food manufacturing. Key attributes include:

  1. Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop production teams, ensuring high performance and effective collaboration.
  2. Operational Expertise: Solid understanding of production processes, equipment, and safety protocols, with the ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  3. Quality & Safety Focus: A strong commitment to maintaining high quality standards and safety compliance, with experience implementing and enforcing safety practices on the production floor.
  4. Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams and report to senior management.
  5. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve operational challenges, improve processes, and ensure minimal downtime or disruptions.
  6. Training & Development: Experience in training, mentoring, and up-skilling staff to ensure they meet performance expectations and safety requirements.
  7. Time Management & Organisational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and a focus on meeting production goals.
  8. Flexible & Adaptable: Willingness to adapt to changing needs and work under pressure while maintaining a positive and results-driven attitude.
