About the role

Join our finance team and assist the financial accountants in the completion of month endprocesses which includes journal entries, analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will work to understand our strategic objectives with an inquisitive mind and desire to enhance processes and create efficiencies.  You will assist with tax related submissions, budgeting and forecasting processes, half year and year end requirements and work as part of our supportive and experienced finance team.

This is a fantastic role for someone looking to build and develop their skills in an entry level financial accounting role, by bringing your exposure from accounting, accounts payable/receivable, we will support you on your journey towards a CA/CPA to learn the technical aspects of the role, what will be key is your drive and willingness to learn and passion for a career in accounting.  With regular coaching sessions and working alongside our experienced financial accountants, this presents an excellent career pathway into a role in Financial Accounting.

As an Assistant Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting the financial accounting team to ensure integrity of the month end process via the reconciliation and task controls
• Ensure accurate & timely entry of all financial data into the general ledger system (via data entry, journal uploads & interface processing), and assist in providing effective analysis, recommendations & explanation of any variances to budget, forecast and last year.
• Assist in SAP tasks including running commitments and allocations and posting mass reversals.  
• Assist in preparing the monthly store transaction listing.

About you

You have strong commercial acumen with the ability to present detailed information in a simple and concise manner that is easy to understand.  Your passion for continuous improvement coupled with your expertise in financial accounting related roles will see you make this role your own.  In addition, you will have:

• Experience/exposure in financial accounting related roles (Reconciliations, AP or AR) with a background in retail highly desirable
• Experience using SAP is desirable- but not essential  
• Currently working towards a CPA/CA qualification with degree level qualifications in accounting or similar preferred 
• Good knowledge of technical accounting standards and processes
• A proactive approach, self motivated with a strong attention to detail
• A willingness to learn and a desire to build a career in financial accounting.
