The Internal Investigations and Assurance Officer (Planned Burns) is part of the Office of Bushfire Risk Management (OBRM), within the Policy and Planning Division in DEECA's Bushfire and Forest Services Group. The position is part of the Sector Assurance and Improvement team, responsible for leading OBRM's monitoring, evaluation, assurance and reporting function.

Key responsibilities of the position will be to support the development and implementation of a framework and associated procedures to provide assurance over planned burns that breach the control line. The position will also support delivery of assurance in relation to broader bushfire risk management activities, enabling OBRM to identify gaps or risks in processes and controls relevant to the management of bushfire risk, to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and to manage strategic and operational risks.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Knowledge and/or experience in assurance processes and practice (analysis and evaluation, issues identification, risk management and forming recommendations) is required.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in investigations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in planned burning, emergency management and/or regulation is desirable.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
