The Air Battlespace Management Enterprise (ABME) requires the embedding of a Systems Engineer in Williamtown, NSW, to support the system of system integration and planning of the Air Battle Management System (ABMS).

The ABMS is currently undergoing a significant mid-life refresh. It is a system-of-systems consisting of deployable cabins, mobile radar and multiple sensor arrays and provides air battlespace command and control functions at fixed regional operation centres.
 

Your responsibilities will include:

As the  Systems Engineer you will support the ABMS System Integration and Planning team whilst also working with all other functional areas of Chief of Airforce – Air Battlespace Management (CAF14)  in an Agile manner and enabling the CAF14 Product Manager with capacity to deliver CAF14 activities, operations, planning, change, and System of System integration.

Primary responsibilities:
The System Engineer will support and/or lead various system engineering activities by working as an embedded team member with Defence, supporting the full Systems Engineering life cycle.

Duties will also include but limited to:

  • Supporting the CAF14 Change Management process, by assessing and monitoring impacts of the changes on the system.
  • Develop, implement and maintain change management processes for these enterprise
  • Manage the introduction of new scope into the ABME
  • Support development, sustainment and incremental delivery of the ABMS
  • Support all aspects of the systems engineering and project delivery lifecycle

About you:

Essential

  • Significant experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, including: requirements management, definition and analysis methods; integration and test, and verification and validation.
  • Past exposure in the Integration, Test and Evaluation of combat system products
  • Significant experience in risk identification & mitigation practices
  • Superior communication skills, including technical writing, a strong analytical mind, and ability to operate in a fast paced environment.
  • Significant experience working with a broad set of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in technical assurance of Mission systems
  • knowledge in Configuration Management and baselining of engineering artifacts.
  • Understanding System Safety and its significance in Complex Systems.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Systems Engineering) from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience.

Desirable
 

  • Experience in Agile project delivery.
  • Experience in Defence projects or Australian Defence sector
  • Experience in Systems Integration
  • V&V testing experience

Special Requirements:

Applicants must hold and maintain an Australian NV-1 security clearance and must be eligible to access/handle ITAR controlled technology, data and information.
