About the role -

Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Head Of Operational Risk, you will play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating operational risks across LMG. This role requires strong analytical skills, a good understanding of the Mortgage Broker industry, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to ensure LMGs operational risk profile remains within acceptable parameters.

You will also play a significant role in the risk transformation of LMG with the implementation of a new GRC platform which will drive the management and visibility of operational risk across LMG leading to an increase in risk culture.

Key responsibilities -

Risk Assessment and Identification

Evaluate and identify operational risks associated with business processes, products, and services. Work with business units to assess the impact and likelihood of operational risk events. Maintain a risk register to track identified risks and their associated controls.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting

Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and assess their relevance in identifying potential risk events. Prepare regular risk reports for senior management and risk committees. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements related to operational risk.

Risk Mitigation and Controls

Collaborate with business units to develop and implement effective controls to mitigate operational risks. Test design and operational effectiveness of existing controls and develop and track treatment plans where necessary. Conduct risk assessments of new products, services, and initiatives.

Incident Management

Respond to and investigate operational risk incidents, breaches, and losses. Support the business to identify root causes of incidents and develop treatment plans to prevent any recurrence. Work with business units to establish incident reporting procedures.

Regulatory Compliance

Stay informed about relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to operational risk management. Ensure LMG’s operational risk practices align with regulatory guidelines.

Risk Culture, Awareness and Training

Provide training and guidance to employees on operational risk awareness. Promote a risk-conscious culture within the organization.

Risk Transformation

Provide support to GRC Project Manager with the implementation of new platform, specifically modules relating to Operational Risk

Productivity

Participation in driving improvements in Business Excellence for LMG Identifying improvement opportunities and collaborating to create time savings across LMG Deliver on our key promises of ‘saving brokers time’ whilst also ‘keeping them safe’

Team

Fostering a positive and collaborative team environment Attendance and participation team at meetings and broader state check ins with the sales & distribution team Actively involved in working groups for process improvement

Skills and Experience you’ll bring to the role -

Relevant tertiary qualifications, Certificate IV or Diploma in Mortgage Broking preferred Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and tools Strong stakeholder relationships experience Excellent business writing skills to influence positive outcomes Working knowledge of NCCP and a strong understanding of the broader regulatory regime particularly, in respect of ASIC obligations, Privacy Act and the Best Interests Duty Good understanding of mortgage lending and/or broker businesses Working autonomously and excellent time management
