Overview:

Due to an increase in demand for our Trades programs, we are looking for experienced teachers in a variety of areas such as Electrical, Instrumentation, Plumbing, Carpentry, Building & Surveying programs at RMIT University's College of Vocational Education.

We are seeking expressions of interest for VE Teachers who have relevant industry qualifications, teaching qualifications (Cert 4 in Training & Assessment TAE40116 or higher) paired with valuable industry experience

About the role 

As a VE Teacher at RMIT, you will be mainly responsible for delivering course material, assessing students, and supervising students enrolled in selected courses in the School.

Participation in the School’s continuing reviews of course content and development, delivery, teaching methods (including on-line delivery methods) and methods of students’ assessment will also form part of this role. You will interact with external organisations, industry groups and RMIT teaching and administration staff. Your performance will be underpinned by participation in relevant activities which ensure your vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.

About you 

To be considered for teaching positions within RMIT trades/apprentice training program areas, you will have:

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.

  • Skills and experience in competency-based assessment and ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.

  • Experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.

  • Relevant Qualifications - Certificate 4 Training & Assessment as a minimum and relevant trades qualifications & licenses.

  • The capacity to diagnose learning problems in students, and propose and implement effective solutions.

  • The ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.
