About the Project
The ICF fibre network is an iconic project that only comes around once in a lifetime, It involves the renewal/upgrade of the existing inter-city network across the Nation. The new inter-city fibre cable uses technically improved optic fibre cable, and architecture which will provide additional capacity between capital cities and remote communities to enhance performance and improve connectivity to regional Australia which will support the anticipated growth in bandwidth over the next 25+ years. It’s a nation-building investment that benefits both those living in cities and in regional communities.
About the role
The Field Scoper will play a key role in recommending and providing advice to the delivery team through construction methodologies. The Field Scoper will obtain a design brief from the internal design team to then provide their construction methodology recommendation which can include trenching, fibre plough and under bore. The Field Scoper will also have excellent negotiation and communication skills frequently interacting with residence of the community.
Roster Pattern
Rosters can depend on project/site location which can vary from 5-6 days week, 10 days on 4 days off or 21days on 7 days off. This can be further discussed in the selection process.
Please note: Surveying experience is advantageous but not essential we are seeking candidates that have experience in construction methodologies and telecommunications projects.

What you’ll be doing
- Providing construction methodologies for installation to best suit client and construction team requirements.
- Liaise with community and residence explaining construction zones and planned works
- Enter and exit manholes and pits when required.
- Prove small sections of conduits using rodding methods.
- Lift and shift manhole and pit lids and other various items whilst on site.
- Interpret design plans and problem solve on construction methodologies
- Report on daily progression and attend internal project meetings
About you
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- An understanding of Telstra Coax, Copper and Optical Fibre Network
- An understanding of property boundaries (surveying experience advantageous) such as Trimble & GPS
- Experience in under bore, trenching and fibre plough and or similar construction methodologies
- Willing to commute & drive long distances in accordance with the Ventia vehicle policy and journey management plans.
