Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Commodity Manager who has strong commercial experience and stakeholder management to join our team reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

As the Commodity Manager the purpose of this position is to:

Manage the physical supply of raw sugar to 2 x Australian and 1 x New Zealand refineries, including raw sugar supply contract negotiation, freight contract negotiation, and execution of shipping/delivery programs. Manage the Sweeteners Sugar futures and FX flat price and spread price risk including trading strategy, trade execution, trade capture, position and P&L reporting Provide raw sugar + oncost pricing to the refined sugar Sales Team Provide commodity market information to internal stakeholders and refined sugar customers Provide price risk management services to Wilmar Cane Products for Grower Pricing and export pool reporting.

Work for an iconic and reputable Australian food manufacturer in a permanent full time role based at our Sugar Australia Head Office in Yarraville.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Develop and maintain contract terms and conditions for raw sugar contracts, freight contracts and relevant raw sugar pricing related terms within refined sugar contracts Execute raw sugar and freight contracts to ensure value is maximised along the supply chain, and to ensure timely physical supply to refineries within agreed quality and cost parameters and target inventory levels. Work proactively with the Sales Team to communicate and co-ordinate the setting of raw sugar oncost rates with customers Provide sugar and FX market information to sales staff and customers via regular market reports, customer visits, and daily interaction with Sales staff. Develop and execute price risk management strategies for retail, BIBO, Net Short Futures rolling (spreads) and other trading positions. Manage the financial performance of the Commodity risk management area, including futures and foreign exchange P&L, raw sugar oncosts. Play a leadership role across the Extended Leadership Team in a cross-functional capacity. Source, develop, coach and retain talent in the Commodity team

What we're wanting you to bring to the table:

Relevant Tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline e.g., Finance, Agriculture Minimum of 15 years work history of risk management and commodity trading, with experience in leading and managing a commodity trading/ treasury/risk team Minimum of 10 years' experience in the commodities industry Collaborative Be solution focussed Think creatively

As the successful candidate you will be pro-active and driven to achieve strong commercial outcomes provide a high level of stakeholder management and have strong influential skills. You will have excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, and will have a strong attention to detail.
