About the role

Reporting to the Manager - Mining and Corporate Development we are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to work with the geology team on resource development and conduct economic evaluations to convert resource reserve development into operations. The right candidate will also play a role in supporting the company's growth aspirations through supporting the Corporate Development Team in assessing the quality of corporate development opportunities as they are presented.  

The ideal person will have solid experience in a hard rock open pit mine (preferably gold) and have technical experience in drill and blast, mine design, and short to medium term planning.

This role is offered on a permanent basis based at the West Perth office, with ad hoc site travel when required.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Mining studies to evaluate economic opportunity, including open pit optimisation, design and schedules
  • Cash flow modelling and mining method trade off studies
  • Assessing corporate development and other growth opportunities
  • PFS AND FS technical reporting writing
  • Assisting with contract tenders
  • Ensuring operations readiness, including support services, infrastructure and contractor mobilisation
  • Offer technical support to Gold Road owned JV operations
  • Compile and review Gold Road resources and reserves
  • Liaising with operation teams to ensure targets are met
  • Promotion of health, safety and environment policies

About yourself

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Mining engineering degree or relevant tertiary qualifications
  • High quality technical document writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in hard rock open pit mining
  • Experience with technical services in mine design and scheduling
  • Strategic planning experience would be advantageous 
  • Competency with an industry recognised CAD, scheduler and drill and blast software (Deswik or Datamine preferred)
