About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and transformational senior leader to join the Service Delivery team at Melbourne Water. Reporting to the Executive General Manager Service Delivery, the Head of Eastern Treatment Plant (ETP) is accountable for the 24/7 delivery, maintenance and operations of the sewerage treatment plant that processes 40% of greater Melbourne’s sewerage and the subsequent recycled water system.
- Responsible for strategy and leadership of the ETP teams ensuring optimisation of resources, operational reliability and efficiency of delivery.
- Influencing across industry and regulators to ensure the best outcomes for Melbourne Water customers.
- Oversight of ETP’s Emergency Response and Major Hazard Facility Management Plans to meet legislative requirements.
- Responsible for achieving Service Delivery’s Productivity, Financial and Customer Service targets.
- Oversight of management systems (Quality, Environment, HACCP, Safety and MHF).
- Standardisation and adoption of best in class contemporary and continuous improvement approaches, including the transformation to a more digital future.
- Working across Melbourne Water’s Senior Leadership Group to ensure sustainable and innovative future asset plans and budgets.
- Embed Risk Management and Safety Leadership culture.

About you:
- You will have extensive enterprise leadership experience within a commercial corporate environment. Highly desired if within a 24/7 operational context.
- High energy to take action and drive business results, with the capability for strong on site presence and collaboration support across all Melbourne Water sites.
- You will have demonstrated experience as an active Leader to positively drive and inspire a diverse workforce.
- Extensive experience in risk management, safety, emergency response, preparedness and recovery.
- You will have exceptional level communication, relationship management, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory and commercial aspects associated with wastewater treatment industry.
- Experience with management systems (Quality, Environment, HACCP, Safety and MHF).
- Digital innovation leadership experience.
- Relevant tertiary degree with the ability to complete an AusCheck and pass an Australian Criminal record check

The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.
Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck. This role is deemed critical, and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
