Job Description

SGS is seeking a Senior Chemist to join our team, responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting Upstream fluid sampling, analysis, and measurement duties at both onshore and offshore locations within Australia, PNG, and overseas as needed.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Aid in project planning, logistics, interfacing with the client as a project focal point both onsite and in client office, and producing detailed high quality.
  • Report along with troubleshooting.
  • Be responsible for pre and post-job equipment preparation, servicing, and calibration as required.
  • Develop and enhance the scope, quality and efficiency of field services provided to clients.
  • Review, update and enhance Standard Operating Procedures for field analysis.
  • Provide hands-on and classroom training on an as-required basis.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in science and technology.
  • Further industry specific technical / commercial training.
  • Several years of experience with well-site sampling and oilfield chemistry and/or production chemistry and/or reservoir fluids sampling and analysis and/or PVT lab experience.
  • International experience of providing well-site sampling and analytical services
  • Experience in one or more of Water Chemistry, Gas Analysis, Liquid Hydrocarbon Analysis.
  • Chromatography, sampling, sample conditioning and transfers, reservoir fluid and separator sampling.
  • Strong aptitude for oilfield analysis, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and chemistry.
  • Classroom or hands-on training of staff.
  • Quality management system implementation and management
