Job Description

We are looking for a Journalist to join our Nine Radio Brisbane newsroom.

You will generate stories, research, edit and present news and sport for Brisbane’s premier talk radio station and our national network of stations on 4BC. 

The 4BC newsroom is a highly-motivated and dynamic group of journalists that produces more than 20 live and local bulletins a day, plus regular news updates and any breaking news as it happens. When you apply, please include an audio demo of your work.

Day to day, you will report the News Director and your responsibilities include:

Editing and presenting informative, accurate and balanced news and sport bulletins Generating stories and following leads from contacts, news agencies, politicians, media conferences and other sources Meeting hourly and half-hourly deadlines Reading On Air news bulletins  Understanding and complying with media law and industry codes of conduct and regulations Conducting interviews with a variety of newsmakers

Taking direction from the Brisbane News Director as well as shift editors

Qualifications

Essential qualifications, experience & skills

Degree in or in final year of journalism or reasonable equivalent qualification Proven experience in journalism and expertise in news gathering, writing and presenting Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and ability to effectively prioritise simultaneous tasks High-level communication and interpersonal skills Broad knowledge of local, national and international issues, newsmakers and organisations Knowledge of domestic and international sport Knowledge of ethical and editorial standards for news writing and broadcasting Knowledge of laws, regulations, conventions and protocols relating to the delivery of news and public affairs content Knowledge of the Brisbane market Valid driver’s licence
