An opportunity is currently available for an experienced Oncology Nurse, to join the GenesisCare team as a Clinical Nurse Consultant, based within our head office in La Trobe.
In this role you’ll use your advanced oncology experience and knowledge to design, implement, and run, a nurse led model of care for patients with prostate cancer, who have completed their radiation therapy at GenesisCare.
Providing a point of reference between consultant and patient, you will provide survivorship care to these patient populations which includes:
- Coordination of PSA testing and follow up
- Nursing assessment & management of post treatment toxicities and escalation of care as required
- Provision of psychosocial support, and ongoing management and referral to meet specific patient needs
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the DON to develop the Nurse led model of care across GenesisCare Victorian sites.
- Provide individualised and coordinated care for patients with prostate cancer post radiation treatment by applying your knowledge to help manage side effects and symptoms, whilst also managing referrals to other providers, as required.
- Provide expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals
- Design, implement and lead, PSA follow up clinics in collaboration with key Radiation Oncologists at GenesisCare Victoria.
- Contribute to quality and best practice nursing standards and liaise closely with the clinical and operational staff at GenesisCare.
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Minimum 5 years nursing experience and demonstrated expertise in oncology nursing
- Postgraduate qualification or working towards in Oncology Nursing
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and plan the care of people with cancer across the continuum of care
- Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of quality patient care
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with external key stakeholders
- An understanding of and experience with developing evidence-based practice and practice change experience.
- Demonstrated involvement in professional activities and organisations including professional memberships.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a positive role model and mentor within the service.
