Assistant Chef or Cook - Aged Care

About the role
 
We are looking for a casual Assistant Chef or Cook to join our team in Calvary St Catherines located in Berri, SA. Working with Calvary Aged Care, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for our residents. You will work closely with our kitchen team to ensure that our residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences, while also adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
 
Your main duties will include:

  • Assist the head chef to plan, prepare, and cook meals for residents, taking into consideration their dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to create menus that are both nutritious and appealing.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following food safety and hygiene protocols.

About you

  • TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards)
  • Experience in bulk cooking and food preparation
  • Ability to plan menus to meet standards e.g. Food Act and Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Ability to order food to meet requirements of menu cycle and keep within budget
  • Understanding of infection control and safety principles
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, e.g. stoves, ovens etc.
  • Completion of (HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices) or willingness to obtain
