General Manager - After Sales

On behalf of this dynamic client, LeaderFit Executive Search and Coaching is searching for an exceptional, strategic thinking and relationship centred leader to join this professional and supportive company that has exciting growth plans. This company designs, manufactures and sells a leading-edge range of sophisticated electrical and technology-based products used in the Building and Construction Industries. It is successfully expanding internationally with its world class suite of products and solutions.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer , you will lead a new initiative to further develop, enhance and execute the desired After Sales and Service delivery capabilities required to facilitate the growth agenda for this dynamic business.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Develop a comprehensive After Sales support strategy to enhance the customer experience, drive revenue, and seize further the potential commercial opportunities that arise. This will include defining the P&L model and outline of financial goals and benefits.
  • Work closely and cohesively with Segment Managers and Marketing Managers to impact the customer experience and growth goals.
  • Ensure effective commercial ownership of the financial performance of the After Sales business unit, including developing service pricing models and warranty programs.
  • Lead the service team and look for opportunities to scale the operational model appropriately through technology, structure and people to deliver on the company commercial and customer experience aspirations and goals.
  • Architect and implement the digital model to support the operational side of the After Sales function, including CRM (NetSuite) and an algorithm for After Sales support services.
  • Lead the business through the required transformation, driving change in current practices. Sell ideas and coach team members to adopt new ways of working.
  • Manage communications with internal sales, technical engineers, external customers, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain relationships between engineering, sales, and marketing.
  • Enhance the operational capabilities of the Technical Services team, implement succession planning, and identify high-potential employees for future leadership roles. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth for all team members.
  • Contribute to the efficacy and advancement of our QMS/EMS by upholding and promoting our quality and environmental policies in all job functions.

What Profile of Candidate are we looking for?

  • Business Model Development: Expertise in creating and executing business models.
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to define P&L models and understand financial implications.
  • Digital Proficiency: Skilled in using digital tools like CRM and algorithms to support business functions.
  • Transformational Leadership: Capable of leading change and driving new initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proficient in communicating with diverse stakeholders and building relationships.
  • Customer-focused: Ability to manage and adjust customer expectations effectively.
  • Coaching and Development: Committed to building leadership capabilities within the team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a sales leadership role at the GM level with strong understanding of After Sales processes and business models.
  • Ideally an Engineering, Science or Business degree, a post graduate business qualification would be an advantage.
  • Strong commercial and people management skills, a proven track record of taking people on a change journey. Management of teams of over 20/30 people.
  • Background in managing technical products and services is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel as required, interstate and overseas (NZ & UK).
  • An entrepreneurial way of thinking, open to managing risk effectively and yet not being constrained by overly corporate structured ways of thinking and delivering. Ability to quickly adapt to fast paced and changing business conditions and to appreciate the leadership style of private business ownership.
