Role Description:

Position: Non-Executive Director / Board Member (Clinical & Operational Expert)

Location: Wanneroo, Western Australia

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the long-term strategy of the organization by providing clinical and operational insights that support the board's strategic decisions.
  • Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance: Provide leadership and oversight to ensure the organization delivers high-quality, safe, and ethical care. Shape policies, strengthen clinical governance and risk management, and drive improvements in resident outcomes.
  • Best Practice Care: Advocate for evidence-based care models that uphold dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Operational Expertise: Provide leadership and oversight of aged care operations to ensure services are safe, high-quality, efficient, sustainable, and financially viable. Bridge clinical best practices with financial sustainability and workforce management to maintain a compliant, high-performing, and resident-centred organization.

Commitment:

  • Attend up to 6 Board meetings per year.
  • Attend up to 4 Clinical Governance committee meetings per year.
  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials and reports.
  • Maintain contemporary knowledge of Aged Care regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Clinical Expertise: Background in nursing, medicine, or allied health with current APHRA registration.
  • Executive Leadership: Experience in aged care or a related industry at an executive level.
  • Strategic & Operational Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding with strategic planning, financial management, and workforce management within the aged care sector.
  • Governance Experience: Understanding and awareness of the accountabilities of board in the NFP sector. Previous board experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Qualifications: AICD or postgraduate qualification highly desirable.
