About the Role

CMP currently has an exciting opportunity for a Pump Technician / Mechanical Fitter in our Mechanical Division , which specialises in pumps and motors for the water and wastewater industry . We also service and maintain Navigation Locks throughout the Gold Coast.

This role is based in Nerang , with work across Government contracts and project sites throughout the Gold Coast and Tweed regions .

Key Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and specifications to choose materials, methods, and machine settings

  • Assemble metal parts and subassemblies to create machines and equipment

  • Check the accuracy and fit of metal parts using measuring tools

  • Set up machines with the right tools, guides, and controls

  • Shape and cut metal to precise measurements using various tools

  • Cut, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes

  • Identify machine issues, perform maintenance, and repair parts

  • Help assemble and install machines on-site

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills

  • C Class Manual Driver's Licence

  • Ability to think laterally and problem-solve

  • Ability to work independently and in a team

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with Pumps and Electric Motors

  • Confined Space Training

  • Laser Alignment Experience

  • Fabrication Skills

  • Restricted Electrical Licence

Work Hours

Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (negotiable)

Overtime and on-call work as required
