**Job Title: Chief Engineer**

The 25hours Hotel The Olympia, located in the vibrant suburb of Paddington in Sydney, requires a skilled and creative engineer to lead our technical team. With a rich history dating back to 1911, our hotel reflects its past while embracing innovation and excellence.

We feature 109 rooms across six floors, along with event and meeting areas, an iconic London restaurant, The Palomar, a coffee house with Baker Bleu pastries, a cozy cocktail and wine bar, and rooftop bar Monica offering city skyline views.

As our Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of all technical systems and preventive maintenance. Your work will directly impact our teams' ability to deliver exceptional service and provide guests with a safe, comfortable, and memorable stay.

  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of engineering systems – HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
  • Lead, schedule, and support the engineering team to ensure effective coverage and high standards.
  • Implement and manage preventive maintenance for equipment, guest rooms, and public areas.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests or emergencies to minimize disruption.
  • Collaborate with department heads to support operational needs and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental standards, and legal/brand requirements.
  • Manage contractors, service providers, and external inspections to guarantee quality and timeliness.
  • Monitor and optimize energy use, utilities, and maintenance budgets.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and assist with capital planning and projects.
  • Train team members on safety, emergency procedures, and best practices.

**Requirements:**

  • Solid technical knowledge and experience in a senior engineering or maintenance role, preferably in the hotel industry.
  • Confident in managing a team and setting high safety, quality, and service standards.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting with quick thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organized, calm under pressure, and available on call when needed.
  • Proficient with building systems and maintenance tools; understands documentation and compliance.
  • Dedicated to ensuring smooth hotel operations for an exceptional guest experience.
