This role offers the opportunity to join a high performing legal group lead by Alana Scheiffers, CSC's General Counsel, a highly respected legal leader with extensive experience in superannuation, financial services, and regulatory compliance. Alana is known for her strategic legal acumen, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to excellence. Under her guidance, the General Counsel Team continues to deliver high-quality, commercially focused legal services that support CSC's mission.
Job Description
The Role
As Manager/Special Counsel, you will play a key leadership role within CSC's General Counsel Team, overseeing and guiding the Dispute Resolution & Casework (DRC) and Compliance & Regulatory (C&R) teams. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will provide strategic legal oversight, mentor emerging leaders, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, commercially focused legal services.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a senior leader within the General Counsel Team, collaborating with key stakeholders to drive legal strategy and operations. Oversee the DRC and C&R teams, ensuring optimal workflow management, case prioritisation, and high-quality legal service delivery. Lead board and executive reporting, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and continuous improvement in legal and compliance matters. Autonomously manage complex legal cases, investigations, and compliance issues, ensuring strategic risk management. Mentor and develop team leaders and junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth. Work cross-functionally with business units to provide legal guidance on superannuation, financial services, and corporate governance matters. Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations, proactively identifying areas for improvement. The Successful Applicant
About You:
Around 8+ years' post-qualification experience in legal practice, preferably in superannuation, financial services, or corporate law. Ideally 4+ years of leadership experience, managing legal professionals and driving team performance. Strong expertise in legal and regulatory compliance within a commercial or government context. A strategic thinker with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality, business-focused legal advice. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and collaborate effectively. Law Degree (LLB or Juris Doctor) and eligibility for admission in the ACT. What's on Offer
