Co-Founder, Head of Commercial - Carbon (Equity Based)

Magnis Investment Co. ('Magnis') is aiming to be a leading investment manager (or fund manager) of natural capital assets. Magnis' motto is 'To be the leading steward of capital and land'. Our objectives are to enable investors to earn attractive returns available in the natural capital sector; develop and operate high integrity carbon projects with co-benefits and generate competitive carbon credits (ACCUs) that contribute to the decarbonisation of the Australian economy. Our comparative advantages are to use technology as a way to source, develop and operate the most competitive projects. To this end, we are currently developing software that enables us to combine economics and carbon yield data to source the most attractive sites for carbon projects in Australia. Combined with maximising co-benefits, we aim to deliver high integrity and competitive carbon credits to the market whilst providing investors with superior returns. Further, our relationships with institutional customers, landowners, local communities, brokers and investors would be a key focus in ensuring a successful and sustainable business.

Position Summary

The Chief Commercial Officer ('CCO') would:

  • Help contribute to the overall strategy and commercial assessment;
  • Help develop proprietary software;
  • Lead sourcing optimal sites and build an investment pipeline;
  • Help pitch and secure initial capital and investment funds;
  • Lead execution of investment including purchase of land, contracting with nurseries and other key stakeholders;
  • Lead the monitoring and operations of projects;
  • Build and manage a development and operations team.

Preferred Background:

Credentials and background in environmental science, carbon project development expertise, biodiversity credits and agricultural economics, developing land based nature projects. The ability to run FullCAM assessment and a deep understanding of ACCU methodologies is considered important.

Education in environmental science, ecology or related fields.

Remuneration

Magnis would offer the successful Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer an equity based contract (working part time) with a view that upon a successful capital raising, a market based salary + incentives package is offered (working full time).
