Henderson International Australia P/L, on behalf of their principals, a well-established international shipping group with diverse interests across the dry bulk, tanker and gas shipping sectors, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer-Superintendent to strengthen its presence in Australia. Being headquartered in Greece and having representative offices in London, the Philippines and Singapore, the Group has a well-established international presence, with vessels calling regularly at Australian ports. The successful candidate will be expected to provide local technical representation and support to the Group's vessels during their Australia-wide port calls.
Key responsibilities
Provide local technical representation and support to the Group's vessels during Australia-wide port calls Conduct marine inspections and ensure vessel compliance with AMSA and Port State Control requirements Prepare vessels for statutory, PSC, terminal and other demanding inspections Assess vessel readiness for inspections, identify technical and operational deficiencies and areas of non-compliance Support effective rectification of deficiencies resulting in satisfactory close-out Provide clear and independent assessment of vessel condition, crew preparedness and SMS implementation Liaise effectively across vessels, shore management, authorities, terminals and other relevant parties Provide practical onboard guidance and support to masters and other senior officers, including focused guidance and training where required Travel to all Australian ports at relatively short notice About you
Former AMSA Marine Surveyor with an engineering or technical background, or extensive experience as a Marine Engineer, Technical/Marine Surveyor, Technical Superintendent, or similar position within the Australian maritime industry Strong practical experience in AMSA and Port State Control, marine inspections and vessel compliance Previous seagoing experience as Chief Engineer or Second Engineer considered a strong advantage Strong knowledge of vessel machinery, technical systems, safety requirements and shipboard operations Permanently residing in Australia, preferably Western Australia (Karratha, Port Hedland, Dampier, Perth, Geraldton, or surrounding areas) Ability and willingness to travel to all Australian ports at relatively short notice Proven problem solving and technical troubleshooting capabilities Strong communication, negotiation and reporting skills with proven ability to liaise effectively across vessels, shore management, authorities, terminals and other relevant parties Ability to provide independent assessment of vessel condition and crew preparedness Work from home.
