The Head of Retail plays a crucial role in driving the success of a Culture Kings retail operations by overseeing multiple store locations throughout Australia and New Zealand. You will be responsible for managing performance, implementing strategies to improve sales and customer satisfaction.
You will ensure each store is meeting sales targets, balance the wage budget and maintain visual merchandising standards across all stores. You will offer coaching on service standards that create exceptional customer experience by leading, training, and developing the retail teams. You will adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring OH&S standards are met and maintained.
**Essential Functions**:
- Staff management and development: Hiring, training, and supervising store managers and retail staff. Providing coaching and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge. Ensuring effective communication and teamwork among employees.
- Performance management: Monitoring and evaluating the performance of each retail store, analysing sales data, and identifying areas for improvement. Providing guidance and support to store managers to help them meet their targets.
- Operational oversight: Ensuring that all retail locations maintain consistent visual merchandising standards, store layouts, and product presentations.
- Monitoring inventory levels, supply chain management, and logistics to optimise efficiency and reduce costs
- Budgeting and financial management: Have an acute awareness of annual budgets for each retail store and monitor financial performance. Analysing sales data, profitability, and expenses to identify areas for cost reduction and revenue enhancement
- Customer service and satisfaction: Ensuring that all retail locations provide exceptional customer service and maintain high customer satisfaction levels. Addressing customer complaints and resolving issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Compliance and policy adherence: Ensuring that all retail locations comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies and procedures. Implementing loss prevention measures to minimise theft and maintain store security.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and ethical guidelines. Identify and mitigate risks that could impact the retail business
- Strategy development: Developing and implementing strategic plans to drive sales, increase brand awareness and achieve overall business objectives across all retail locations.
**Skills & Experience**:
- Extensive Retail Experience: Prior experience in various retail roles, such as store management, regional management, or district management, provides a solid foundation for a national retail management position.
- Understanding the dynamics of retail operations, customer behaviour, and industry trends is crucial.
- Leadership and Management Skills: As the Head of Retailr, you'll be responsible for overseeing multiple stores or regions. Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills are essential to motivate and guide your teams towards achieving sales targets and delivering exceptional customer experiences
- Strategic Thinking: Head of Retail needs to think strategically, develop business plans, set goals, and execute initiatives that align with the company's overall vision. This includes identifying market opportunities, analysing competition, and adapting to changing consumer preferences
- Analytical Abilities: Being able to interpret data, analyse retail metrics, and derive actionable insights is critical. This enables you to make informed decisions, optimise operations, and drive performance improvements across the national retail network.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with various stakeholders, including store managers, regional teams, cross-functional departments (e.g., merchandising, marketing, finance), and senior executives.
- Strong interpersonal skills facilitate clear communication of goals, expectations, and strategies
- Adaptability: The retail industry is constantly evolving, the Head of Retail must be adaptable to changing market dynamics, consumer trends, and technological advancements.
- Being open to new ideas, embracing innovation, and adjusting strategies accordingly is key.
