Development Engineer (Graduate) role supporting local government infrastructure projects in a vibrant coastal community.Your RoleKey responsibilities include:Provide professional and timely advice to management, staff, and the public on position-related matters.Interpret and apply technical concepts to resolve complaints and explain policy.Promote a positive image for Council through effective public enquiry responses.Contribute to development engineering advice, including assessment of applications and construction inspections per legislation, codes, and standards.Assist Civil Services Division with design functions and development engineering tasks.Assess development applications, including civil design plans, traffic, and stormwater reports.Conduct inspections of development-related civil works.Maintain understanding of relevant codes, acts, and legislation and share information with staff.Respond to correspondence and prepare reports for Council and governing bodies.Prepare public materials explaining Council policies clearly.Ensure compliance with Council's safe work procedures and work health and safety policies.Participate as a positive team member contributing to team goals.Contribute to process, systems, and procedure improvements for quality services and projects.About YouThe company is looking for:Behaviour demonstrating Council's values: creative, accessible, respect, energetic, and safe.Recent or substantial completion of tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related field.Effective oral and written communication skills.Proven digital literacy with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Ability to work independently and in a team focused on quality customer service within deadlines.Class C driver licence.Knowledge and application of equal employment opportunity principles and work health and safety practices.Compensation & BenefitsAnnual salary range of $70,800 to $81,200 plus 12% superannuation, dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications.Support and mentoring by experienced professional staff.Flexible work arrangements including rostered day off (9 day fortnight or 4 day week).
