**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The sommelier will be responsible for creating and updating wine lists throughout the hotel. The goal should be to create award-winning wine lists that are diverse, with a strong focus on local wines, well-priced, and highly focused on wines that pair well with the cuisine in the respective venue. The responsibility of the sommelier includes supervising wine serving, making recommendations on food and wine pairings, managing inventories, and negotiating prices with vendors.

The sommelier assists with planning wine promotions, assists waiters on the floor during peak periods and manages property wine inventories and controls. They strive to ensure guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. Accountable for wine service in the hotel being delivered professionally and consistently. Determines training needed to accomplish goals and implements training plans. Strengthens the B&F team by assisting in any outlet when needed.

The sommelier should demonstrate a friendly personality, strong knowledge of food and wine pairings, and good interpersonal skills. The Sommelier must understand the wine making process, and have an in-depth knowledge of wines, as well as the ability to quickly recall and share complex information about different types of wines, wine pairings and tasting notes. Their main responsibility is to promote wine sales through staff and customer education.
