Position Description
The Program Leader Community Events and Activation will be the operational lead, coordinator and central point-of-contact for a range of Council-led community events and provide leadership and coordination in development and curation of community activation projects across the Isaac region aligned to organisational priorities.
The role also provides support in the coordination and delivery of effective community engagement and development strategies to the broader department (Community Hubs and Community Development streams).
The incumbent will be a highly effective organiser and collaborator, with the ability to engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders in delivery of diligently planned community events and activities.
The role relies on strong relationships with key internal partners including the broader Engaged Communities department, Council's communications team, Office of the Director PECS, Office of the CEO, council facility managers and the elected body in delivery of community experiences that build social connections and liveability values in response to identified needs and Council's Social Sustainability Policy.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Responsibilities and qualifications
Demonstrated experience in event management, including planning and priority management, record keeping, budgeting and procurement.
Experience in developing and implementing community engagement and participation programs, preferably with experience in leading and facilitating engagement activities.
Knowledge of diverse regional communities, their challenges and community drivers (or ability to rapidly acquire).
Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in event management, including event planning, delivery and priority management; record keeping, budgeting and procurement.
Well-developed knowledge and skills in community engagement and participation practice.
Sound knowledge of community and social development principles.
Self-motivated with the ability to work individually and as an effective team member with a continuous improvement approach.
Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and organisational skills.
Strong community-focused ethos and commitment to Isaac Regional Council's Vision and Values and the PECS Noble Purpose.
What we offer
Base Salary $103,919.64 per annum (Stream A, Level 6)
Full Time, Permanent Position
Based in Moranbah
5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% loading
Up to 14.5% super in accordance with Council Policy
