**Description**

As our new Principal Risk and Assurance Lead, you will be part of a team of second line risk experts oversighting Technology, Finance and other group operations in our member owned financial services organisation.

You will advise, and challenge business owners to help ensure risks and controls are effectively managed; and assuring first line functions are operating as intended.

You will also support the Manager Group Risk in improving our risk maturity and architecture, researching improvements to policies and procedures that enable a consistent approach to risk management practices. Your experience working with business owners to uplift risk identification, control management, business continuity and resolution of issues across the enterprises, is highly valued at RACQ.

You deliver accurate and effective input to risk decision making, reporting, and monitoring. You are a trusted advisor, pragmatic, and forthright with demonstrable assurance expertise in financial services environments.

Key deliverables:

- Being a trusted advisor to the business to improve risk and compliance practices and embed risk-based decision-making.
- Conduct training, risk assurance of the analysis, control, treatment, monitoring and reporting of risk in relation to Technology, Finance, and other group operations.
- Support the Manager Group Risk in planning, scheduling, facilitating, and analysing the organisation's stress testing program including sensitivity testing and scenarios analysis.
- Develop strong working relationships with first line, second line and third line colleagues to achieve our target risk maturity state and support continuous improvement.
- Contribute to risk and assurance reporting to the boards, committees and senior executives to ensure that the interests of the membership are being appropriately through effective risk management activities across the Group.

Skills & Experience:

- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of risk management practices, processes, frameworks, and standards in a financial services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of banking and insurance operations, and Australian regulatory environment, contemporary corporate governance and change drivers
- Demonstrated experience in risk management including process and management control design combined with the expert ability to understand operational and compliance risks inherent or emerging in a business.
- 3+ years in managing risk and/or assuring technology, cyber and information risks, OR
- 3+ years managing risk and/or assuring or auditing Finance control effectiveness and risk management practices
- Financial and capital analysis, planning and stress testing capability
- Continuous improvement coaching, facilitation, and advocacy experience
- Demonstrated experience transforming risk and assurance insights from diverse data and information sources to prepare insightful, fact-based reporting suitable for management and board to make informed decisions.
