Are you Health Sciences Faculty in one of the following areas:Faculty, Health Sciences (Medical Laboratory Science)Faculty - Health Sciences Emergency Medical Services (Paramedic)Faculty, Health Sciences (Medical Imaging)Faculty - Health Sciences (Nursing)Faculty, Health Sciences (Medical Laboratory Science)Faculty - Health Sciences (Social Work)Department: Health Sciences / Faculty of Health & Social CareReports to: Head of DepartmentJob SummaryThe Health Science Lecturer is responsible for teaching, researching, and contributing to the academic environment in the field of health sciences.
This role includes delivering high-quality instruction in courses related to above areas.
The lecturer will also engage in curriculum development, student mentoring, and academic research in the field.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Course DeliveryDevelop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and tutorials in health science-related subjects.Plan, prepare, and update course materials (syllabi, reading lists, lectures, etc.).
Create, administer, and grade assessments (exams, quizzes, assignments, and projects).
Provide feedback to students on academic performance and guide them toward academic success.Foster an interactive learning environment that encourages student participation and inquiry.Student SupportProvide academic advising and support to students.Mentor and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students on their academic projects and dissertations.Offer guidance on career development and opportunities in the health science field.Administrative DutiesContribute to departmental and institutional initiatives and meetings.Participate in the development and review of academic programs and curricula.Assist with student recruitment, orientation, and retention efforts.Maintain accurate records of student performance, grades, and attendance.Qualifications and RequirementsEducational QualificationsA minimum of a Master's degree in Health Science, Medical Sciences, Nursing, or a related field (PhD preferred).
A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCHE) or willingness to obtain one is an advantage.ExperiencePrevious teaching experience in higher education or relevant professional experience in the healthcare field is preferred.Experience in academic research with published works is advantageous.Familiarity with various teaching methods, including online and blended learning.Skills and CompetenciesStrong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to develop and deliver educational content effectively.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Proficiency with educational technologies and software.Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.Personal AttributesPassion for teaching and academic development.A strong commitment to student success and well-being.Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
