Based at the Moolarben Coal Open Cut which is located approximately 40 kilometres north of Mudgee in the Western Coalfields of NSW you will complete a Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations over an 18-month period.

**Job Tasks and Responsibilities**:
A Surface Extraction Operations Trainee is responsible for a range of tasks including, but not limited to:

- Learn the foundations and content to develop skills and knowledge required in the Surface/Open-Cut Coal Mining Industry
- Operation of Surface Plant and Haulage equipment
- Ability to communicate with other Surface Operators, Processing Plant Operators and Haul Truck Operators via various methods (i.e. verbally, radio, safety cones and hard/ soft barriers etc.)
- Perform manual labour duties & carry out tasks as instructed.
- Ability to identify and learn about environmental hazards in an Open Cut Mining Operation.
- Adhering to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
- Completing all related course work associated with the Traineeship.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Willing to undertake an Order 43 Pre-Employment Medical.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a diverse team, have great communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have a high attention to detail.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a physically demanding role
