Quick Release is looking for a Technical Writer to join our team.
Responsibilities
Produce, edit and maintain high-quality technical documentation (manuals, work instructions, illustrated parts catalogues) for complex land defence systems and platforms
Develop content in compliance with S1000D v5, ADF Publication Guidelines and relevant international/military documentation standards
Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and ILS staff to interpret engineering data, specifications and system requirements
Manage configuration, version control and integrity of technical publications using Content Management Systems and XML-based tools
Conduct document reviews, validation and incorporate feedback from project teams and defence stakeholders
Ensure all deliverables meet customer, safety and regulatory requirements, and are delivered within project timelines
Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes and publication standards in a Defence environment
Must have
Qualifications in a relevant technical domain
Proven experience in technical writing, authoring or technical publication development, ideally on major Defence projects
Strong knowledge and application of S1000D version 5 standards
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, system specifications, and support information
Excellent written communication and organisational skills
Demonstrated experience in managing publication configuration, reviews and compliance with Defence documentation standards
Ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Baseline Security Clearance Minimum)
Experience working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary engineering or project teams
Nice to have
Experience developing publications for land defence assets, vehicles, or support equipment
Knowledge of other Defence and international standards (DEF(AUST), ADFP, MIL-STDs, etc.)
Familiarity with ILS concepts, configuration management and lifecycle documentation for Defence assets
