
Principal Finance Officer, Financial Control

The role Reporting to the Manager, Financial Policy, this position will play an important role in the development, review, and implementation of the Financial Control Program (FCP). Significantly contributing to this body of work, you will oversee the implementation of solutions to identified financial internal control risk deficiencies. Specifically, you will update the FCP as needed for any changes to internal financial controls, as well as to satisfy all legislative requirements. You will also be responsible for coordinating the ASAE 3402 engagement which, will include the use of SharePoint and oversite with regards to the provisioning of user access.
You will have the opportunity to identify risks, control weaknesses and design practical solutions, to mitigate risks, impacting on financial strategies across the department's Divisions. Additionally, your regular liaison with key internal and external stakeholders (such the Queensland Audit Office) will determine and direct the work to be performed by each Division within the department, to culminate in the preparation of the annual CFO Statement to form part of the department's annual financial statements in accordance with the Financial Accountability Act.
You should possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to work autonomously alongside any key stakeholder, as required. You will be able to source and review relevant information, in order to formulate practical solutions in a timely manner. Problem solving should also be a skill which you excel at.
