Overview
The Azure Networking team continues to innovate across the stack, pushing new scale and features into the cloud and desktop platforms while transforming our infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the Artificial Intelligence infrastructure and several hundred thousand customers using Azure Services to host and run their Cloud Services in over 100 datacenters, running millions of servers and edge computing nodes all over the world.
Our teams work on the breadth of networking software defined offerings from Software Load Balancer, Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, and other diverse sets of services.
As a Software Engineer in the Software Defined Networking team you will work on unique and highly visible projects in the Networking area that would shape the future of our software services for networking scenarios.
The outcome will directly impact supporting the scale and pace needed for innovating on the requirements of Artificial Intelligence workloads.
You will be responsible for defining, driving execution and adoption of different features and capabilities in the core Azure networking stack that will have a significant business impact.
You will have the opportunity to work in a broad range of technical areas, and across component teams inside Microsoft Azure, and within the Cloud & Enterprise division.

Responsibilities
Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Reliable, high quality software development
Large scale orchestration frameworks
Extensive Backend application development
Other RequirementsAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional Or Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Demonstrated & innovative solutions to complex problems
Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with DevOps concepts that include continuous deployment, deployment automation, telemetry frameworks etc.
