**Role**:The main responsibilities of the position are**:

- A range of activities to ensure that the school grounds are facilities are maintained to a very high standard
- Oversee the maintenance of school ovals through regular mowing, watering and soil maintenance lawn and garden maintenance, including regular weeding and the use of appropriate insecticides and fertilisers where necessary
- Plant and water trees, shrubs, gardens and undertake general maintenance of grounds

In this role at Yeronga State High School, you will have responsibility for the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment, safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuels
- Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the school, including those which relate to furniture and equipment, locks and windows
- Communicating effectively and displaying a high level of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member
- Display confidentiality, tact, reliability and sensitively to staff, students and their families

A Working with Children Blue Card is mandatory and the employee must be willing to undergo a criminal history check prior to recruitment.
This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.
