Create a spaceto stimulate innovation where ideas are pitched, prototyped, and propelled into the future.The Innovation Hub Lead role is a newly created a senior leadership position with the mandate to build and drive our innovation engine from the ground up.This is more than a role – it's a rare opportunity to pioneer a culture of curiosity, creativity, and cutting-edge thinking.Reporting to the CTO, this is a rare opportunity to join the business in a senior leadership role to establish our Innovation Hub taking it from concept to reality to conceptualise and prototype future digital technology solutions into the mining industry.
You will lead a smart and driven team of software and mining engineers working at the cutting edge of innovation.
You'll be hands-on setting up and leading the execution of a portfolio in a rapid incubator approach.This position will be based in Brisbane in our Software Hub and head office.What you'll be doing :Supporting the development and prioritisation of an innovation pipeline shaping the future of Deswik as it supports the mining industryEngaging across a broad base of stakeholders including, clients, internal management and consultants to deliver value-based customer outcomesAkin to an internal start-up, rapidly prototyping solutions and advising on best practices across emerging technologyEstablish framework, processes, decision matrix and governance for identifying ideas to take to the Steer Co for approval to close out or move forwardLeading and mentoring a brilliant team of engineers and consultants, developing capability in delivering innovation with a curious and adaptable approachWhat you'll bring to the team :Strong knowledge of the mining technology space with previous experience leading incubator or innovation programsDomain knowledge and passion for miningA track record of execution or ideation across AI, machine learning (ML), and agentic workflowsPrevious experience working with cloud (AWS) and agile methodologies a mustDemonstrated experience standing up a new business unit or team and establishing processes and governance, etcConfidence engaging with technical architects, software and mining engineers, and stakeholders to align on outcomesReal-world leadership in consulting, including people development and mentoringA curious mind and a love of learning - ideally backed by certifications and hands-on experience across multiple tech platformsThe ability to translate complexity into clear langue and prototype solutions - verbally and visuallyThe ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with changing requirements and failing fast if requiredStrong people leadership to stand up effective project teams, work with Steer Co's and present products to the Board to rule out or hand over to Software to develop.Why Join Us?
