But we're not just building another data pipeline – we're creating a self-improving system that intelligently optimises both model training effectiveness and labelling resource allocation.
Because we know that great AI starts with great data.For this role we're looking for a Senior ML Engineer to focus on backend services.
You'll work alongside talented AI researchers to build robust, scalable systems that power our data operations.
While ML knowledge is valuable, this role centres on software engineering rather than model training.Key Responsibilities:Build and optimise backend services, APIs, and databases that support our ML data workflowsDesign and maintain sophisticated labelling and data systems using Python, SQL, Kubernetes, Argo, and GitLabPartner with data scientists and ML engineers to create seamless workflows across diverse ML applicationsGuide architectural decisions and ensure our systems align with best practices and organisational goalsMentor engineers at all levels while championing collaboration and operational excellenceWhat We're Looking For:5+ years building scalable, production-grade software systems (ideally in ML/MLOps environments)Strong Python skills and deep experience with distributed systems on LinuxProven track record with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and production optimisationExcellent collaboration skills – you'll work closely with data scientists and ML engineersBonus points for experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Snowflake, and AWS services (S3, RDS, EKS)QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical fieldAdditional InformationSome of our benefitsNearmap takes a holistic approach to our employees' emotional, physical and financial wellness.
