Our client is a software development company headquartered in Melbourne with 550 employees across 10 countries. They are seeking a Database Specialist to work in a newly created role, that will help the business set the future path for its database management.

The Database Specialist will work closely with the development and infrastructure teams to improve existing database implementations and define new internal standards to improve supportability, security, and performance. The role will also involve troubleshooting and assisting to diagnose issues with these same solutions.

**_ Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:_**
- Review and define best practice standards for MS SQL database implementation
- Assist with troubleshooting and remediating database performance issues
- Review and address support incidents in a timely manner
- Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and providing solutions
- Review recurring critical issues developing permanent solutions
- Provide enhancements to MS SQL database performance
- Work on continuous improvement of processes and security
- Update and prepare communications on the progress of projects and tasks

**Experience & Knowledge**
- Experience with architecting highly available databases.
- Experience troubleshooting and remediating performance issues with databases.
- Knowledge and experience with Azure database technologies
- Operating System competency with Windows and Linux
- Proven analytical and methodical problem-solving skills

**Qualifications**
- MS SQL DBA
- Tertiary Qualifications in relevant field
