The Compliance Branch's role is to provide assurance of compliance with the foreign investment framework, which it does through a range of activities including proactive investigations and other forms of compliance assessment, enforcement action to address non-compliance, and educating foreign investors on the requirements of the foreign investment legislation.We're seeking applications from experienced and motivated team members for a position in the Compliance Branch.Responsibilitiesundertaking proactive and responsive compliance activities to assess compliance with Australia's foreign investment laws and prevent and detect non-complianceinvestigating potential non-compliance with Australia's foreign investment lawsusing analytical capability and professional judgement to evaluate compliance and recommend effective responsesconducting initial analysis of compliance reportsanalysing data to identify compliance trendsassisting the development of internal guidance and procedures to support best practice compliance operations.manage concurrent cases, including complex cases, projects or investigationsinterpret and apply legislation, administrative law principles and regulatory frameworks when assessing complex and specialised issues to make evidence-based recommendations on foreign investment mattersinvestigate and deliver regulatory outcomes, including to analyse information and data, plan and carry out investigations, gather evidence, legal analysis and other enforcement-related processescontribute to regulatory risk assessments to identify priorities for compliance operational activity and evaluating outcomes of those compliance activitieshelp to develop and implement policies, procedures and systems to support the lawful administration of the Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Act 1975contribute to various business and process improvement initiatives.Desirable Qualifications / ExperienceExperience in administering legislation to support regulatory decisions and outcomesExcellent interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills including the ability to liaise and engage with stakeholders at all levelsAbility to develop strong relationships with stakeholders; and collaborate and reconcile alternative positions to achieve timely and robust outcomesCritical thinking skills to identify issues and potential solutionsDemonstrated ability to exercise strong attention to detail in analysis and written and oral communicationOrganisational skills and the ability to manage competing prioritiesSound judgment and resilience to achieve objectives in challenging, fast-paced environmentsAbility to work independently and use initiative to achieve desired outcomesQualifications in law, accounting, commerce and/or finance are highly desirable but not essential.Seniority levelNot ApplicableEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionAnalystIndustries: Government Administration
