Perform quality duties relating to the role including stock control, document control, staff training, annual reviews, performance development reviews, and appropriate use of internal quality control systems including specialist procedures i.e. Clinical Trials and Shipper of Infectious Substances, GMO's GMMO's and Dry Ice maintain all record keeping.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Experience in pre-analytical pathology processes and excellent troubleshooting abilities in a large and complex specimen reception unit.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use laboratory based computerised systems
- Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
- Demonstrated ability to arrange in-service training and continuing educational programs for Specimen Reception staff and delivery of training programs for changes in Standard Operating Procedures or equipment.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.
- Ability to plan and prioritise to effectively manage the customer service function in alignment with the overall strategic plan of the Department.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Nil mandatory qualifications are required for this role although a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or Certificate III Pathology or ability to gain this qualification is desirable.
- Central Specimen Reception delivers a 24-hour, 7-day service. In this workplace, all newly appointed staff can be contracted to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
