Driven by creativity and inspired by the future, we set out every day to reframe the possible.About the roleFramestore's Melbourne studio is looking for a Senior FX TD for a 3-6 month contract.
Due to the short term nature of this role, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship but would consider remote from within Australia.
As a Senior FX TD at Framestore, you'll be tasked with creating CG renditions of naturalistic physical or magical phenomena.
You'll bring to life the wonder of visual effects in high-end films.What you'll doCreating particle, rigid-body, fluid, cloth, fur and/or hair simulations or animationsApplying lighting and shaders to produce the final rendered image or passing the simulation on to a Lighting Technical DirectorUsing a variety of commercial and proprietary FX tools including Maya, HoudiniWorking in partnership with other departments to ensure that shots are delivered to the highest possible standardWorking within the team to determine the various design solutions needed to create the effectsDesigning and creating images, elements, effects, pipelines, tools and techniquesHelping to design solutions involving a more procedural approach in order to create the effects requiredProducing reviewable composites of all FX elements for a shot.
Sometimes FX TDs will be expected to produce final renders too An excellent knowledge of Maya and HoudiniA thorough understanding of the techniques and technologies relating to FX simulation and procedural animationExtensive experience producing effects such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam and explosions in addition to simulation techniques for rigid-bodies, cloth and hairA good understanding of animation and an eye for motionA good understanding of the entire visual effects processA familiarity with pipeline issues, especially working between multiple packagesA working knowledge of at least one compositing application (e.g. Nuke) and a solid understanding of the compositing processStrong Python and/or Vex, Mel scripting skill You might also haveKnowledge in other simulation packages such as Naiad, and realflowExperience with Arnold or other render packagesProgramming skills with C/C++ along with knowledge of the Houdini HDK and/or Maya APIUnix shell scriptingAccessibility StatementOur Melbourne studio is fully accessible, with step-free entry and quiet spaces available.
