About the Queensland Children's Hospital
The Queensland Children's Hospital (QCH), which opened on 29 November 2014, is Australia's largest and most advanced paediatric facility. Located in South Brisbane, the 359-bed hospital features more than 80,000 square meters of facilities spread across 12 levels.
As Queensland's single specialist paediatric facility, Children's Health Queensland's (CHQ) at the QCH is the hub of a dedicated network of paediatric services available at other Brisbane and Queensland hospitals. Expanding on CHQ's state-wide remit, the QCH also supports regional hospitals through telemedicine and outreach services. This means children and young people can access the services they need as close to home as possible.
The hospital precinct includes the Centre for Children's Health Research, the Children's Hospital Foundation, Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane (opened in 2016) and a new Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service building.
**Your Opportunity**:
- Participate in the management of patients (of all ages) with metabolic disorders who are admitted to the Queensland Children's Hospital or Mater Hospital Brisbane (adults). Manage outpatient clinics in the above hospitals, Gold Coast University Hospital, Townsville Hospital and Cairns Base Hospital.
- Participate in the management of paediatric and adult patients within the Queensland Health Catchment area including northern parts of the Northern Territory and northern New South Wales.
- Provide optimum care for patients with inborn errors of metabolism as well as ensuring the Fellow acquires a fundamental understanding of Metabolic Medicine through management of as many patients and clinical dilemmas as possible, all under appropriate supervision.
- Deliver medical services through participation in clinical duties at Fellow level and in accordance with the policies, practices and Values of the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
- Demonstrate commitment to evidence based practice, research and quality improvement activities, including undertaking clinical audits and clinical risk management activities.
- Assist in the professional development of junior medical staff and the training of medical and allied health students.
