About The Opportunity
The Public Health Unit, located in Liverpool NSW is seeking an accredited Public Health Physician to fill the role of Staff Specialist.
What You\'ll Be Doing
Provide public health medicine expertise, clinical advice and support to the Public Health Unit.
In collaboration with PHU staff specialists and the PHU team, provide evidence-based clinical, public health and program advice to support health protection activities in environmental health, immunisation, communicable disease control, and emergency preparedness.
Lead the implementation of these activities, including identifying, monitoring, and investigating significant public health risks and coordinating responses.
Where You\'ll Be Working
South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) serves over 966,450 residents across seven LGAs and a network of hospitals, community health centers, and services.
The district emphasizes innovation, patient-centered care, research and education.
Qualifications and Experience
Current medical practitioner registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia, and Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) or other relevant specialist recognition as provided under the Health Insurance Act 1973.
Demonstrated understanding of public health medicine principles and ability to practice to a high standard with evidence-based practice.
Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
Experience in teaching/training at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
Commitment to continuing self-education and development, including continuing medical education/CPD.
Ability to comply with service objectives, provide services to the local community, use resources effectively, and participate at an LHD level.
Willingness to participate in a public health on-call roster.
Ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team.
