The Centre is a partnership between Western District Health Service and Deakin University and is based in Hamilton, Victoria.About the roleAn exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated registered nurse to join the National Centre for Farmer Health (NCFH), based in Hamilton, Victoria.
The centre delivers specialised multidisciplinary, integrated agricultural health services, research, training and education to farmers, rural professionals, tertiary and secondary students across Australia.
The Farmer Health Clinician will be passionate about improving farmer health wellbeing and safety and have personal experience working with agricultural communities.The successful candidate will be involved in delivering a number of NCFH programs, including farmer-focused health checks and the AgriSafe clinics for farmers.
They may be asked to represent the NCFH through speaking engagements to provide health, wellbeing and safety education to agricultural workers, health professionals and students.
They will have a growth mindset and a strong commitment to expanding farmer health programs through engagement with industry and health services.
The current vacancy is a part-time role until 30 June 2025 to cover a maternity leave vacancy, with potential for continuation in part-time or casual capacity after the fixed term ends.You will bringThe position requires a registered nurse with Division 1 qualification and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience, with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Familiarity with rural and farmer health, agricultural exposures and occupational risks, and completion of the postgraduate unit HMF701 Agricultural Health & Medicine (Deakin University) is preferred.
A valid driver's license is required as travel to remote and rural locations will be necessary.You should be self-sufficient, organized, detail-oriented, and proficient at maintaining patient files and records, coordinating referrals and managing appointments.
A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and building positive relationships with the Centre's staff, community, students, farmers and collaborative partners is essential.For more details please see the Position Description.Requirements and complianceThe successful applicant will hold, or be able to obtain, a current National Criminal Police Check.
Depending on your position you may be required to obtain a Working with Children Check Clearance, Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme check and/or NDIS Worker Screening Check.
All successful applicants are to comply with WDHS immunisation and vaccination requirements.
