Title: Senior Coastal EngineerThe OpportunityThis is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia.
Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large-scale multi-discipline maritime facilities across various industries including defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals).
You will apply your existing experience across these industries and gain exposure to new and interesting projects.
You will be supported by and collaborate with a range of other disciplines within KBR and our partners.While you may be familiar with some of our high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), our work extends beyond defence.
Our team is engaged in large-scale clean energy projects (e.g., Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (e.g., Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), port infrastructure (e.g., Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of public assets (e.g., Central Pier, Melbourne).
This role involves leveraging your coastal engineering expertise to deliver projects from concept design through to construction support.
Although primarily technical, the role offers opportunities for leadership (project and design management) and business development (proposal writing and client engagement).
Who are you?
Our Senior Coastal Engineers typically have 2 to 5 years of experience with skills including:Design, evaluation, and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works, and marine structures (wharves, jetties, marinas, seawalls, dredging)Experience with coastal modelling software (desirable: DELFT-3D, SWAN, MIKE)Experience working with local governments, port clients, or the Defence sectorFamiliarity with Australian design codes and guidelinesMentoring and guiding less experienced staffManaging small maritime projects (project or design management)Engaging with clients, pursuing opportunities, and winning workChartered Professional Engineer status (or ability to achieve within an agreed timeframe)Tertiary degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringEligibility for Australian Government security clearanceDon't meet every requirement?
