**AN EXCITING NEW PROJECT IN THE NEWCASTLE/MAITLAND AREA - NOW RECRUITING DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKERS**

Pegasus Care is excited to announce a new Supported Independent Living project in the Newcastle/Maitland Area. We are recruiting Disability Support staff to support a sociable lady in her 40's to live as independently as possible. Support is required to access the community and maintain a healthy daily routine within the SIL property.

The successful applicant will be respectful of independence and focused on the development of independent living skills. You will be supported by a cohesive team of support workers, a key worker and team leader to learn the specific skills to excel in this role.

The role requires staff to be available to work a 24/7 roster which will include weekend and public holidays, and, may include night shift/sleepover shifts. To ensure the smooth running of the Service, staff will need to commit to a minimum of 30hpw

You will need well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a Team as well as family members, you will need good communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to follow the routines and protocols in the setting in which you work.

The successful applicant must be able to show experience and/or knowledge in some or all of the following:

- Experience/understanding of Mental Health supports
- Experience/understanding with anxiety and/or autism
- Friendly, personable and motivational.
- Ability to set and maintain personal and professional boundaries
- Willing to be trained/mentored

Whilst experience within the industry is an advantage we are open to supporting DSW's new to the industry and encourage applicants from people seeking a career change.
